In a recent interview with Kontraspor, journalist Burhan Can Terzi claimed that Arsenal are keeping tabs on Galatasaray winger Baris Alper Yilmaz. Terzi said,

“English giant Arsenal followed Baris Alper to Rams Park yesterday. Maybe the record of the Sacha Boey transfer can be broken at the end of the season.”

Yilmaz’s Impressive Run Of Form In Turkish Football

Yilmaz has enjoyed a decent campaign at the Turkish club as he has put in a run of impressive displays for them on the right wing. The 23-year-old has found the back of the net on four occasions and earned five assists in 38 matches for Galatasaray this season on all fronts.

The Rize-born talent has been a good performer in the final third based on his average of 1.3 shots, 1.1 key passes and 1.6 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Turkish Super Lig. He has even been tidy when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half after making 75.4% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).

Yilmaz is under contract at the Turkish club until the summer of 2027 which would make it difficult for the Gunners to sign him on the cheap in the summer.

Is Yilmaz A Good Option For Arsenal?

Yilmaz is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few clever runs with the ball out in the wide areas. He has got the vision to engineer some inviting chances for his teammates in the final third.

The Turkish wing wizard is proficient at finding a yard of space for himself to get a few strikes at goal. However, he has to find a way to improve his decision-making in front of the opponent’s goal.

Yilmaz would add more quality and depth to Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta‘s attack. At 23, he has his best years ahead of him which makes him a good fit for the North London club‘s needs in the long run. However, only time will tell whether he can cope with the physicality and high intensity of English football if the Gunners manage to sign him later this year.

All in all, Yilmaz would be a decent option for the London giants to consider at the end of this campaign.
