Arsenal have announced the news that they will face an A-League Allstars Women side in an exhibition match in Australia.

The Gunners will fly ‘Down Under’ to participate in the match on Friday 24 May 2024. The fixture will be staged at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne and will see Arsenal play in Australia for the very first time in their history.

Australian football fans have an invested interest in Arsenal. Three of the CommBank Matildas currently play for the North Londoners, those being Steph Catley, Caitlin Foord and Kyra Cooney-Cross. The trio will now have the opportunity to showcase their talents for their club team on home soil in Melbourne.

Speaking following the announcement, defender Catley said “It’s so exciting that Arsenal will be travelling to Australia in May.

“During the World Cup, we all shared in the huge wave of excitement and popularity and potential of women’s football across the world with Australia at the heart of it.

“I’m looking forward to being a part of what will be another great occasion against A-League Allstars Women.

“As a Melbourne girl and a very proud Arsenal player, it will be a very special moment to walk out on home soil in Arsenal colours.”

Arsenal complete the domestic season on Saturday 18 May 2024. The Gunners are expected to fly out to Australia soon after the campaign comes to a close.
