Arsenal have announced the news that Japanese international attacker Mana Iwabuchi has left the club at the end of her contract.

The Gunners revealed the news via a post on their official club website just a short time ago.

The 30-year-old joined Arsenal in summer 2021 following a short spell with the club’s Barclays Women’s Super League rivals Aston Villa. The player has gone on to make 28 appearances for The Gunners in all competitions while she has netted six goals.

Given the competition for places in the Arsenal team, Iwabuchi has struggled for regular game time. The player was sent out on loan to Arsenal’s North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur for the second half of this season. Iwabuchi made 10 appearances for Spurs in the Barclays Women’s Super League, helping the club to avoid relegation to the Barclays Women’s Championship.

Iwabuchi has a wealth of experience in the game. The player has featured for clubs in her native Japan, Germany and England in her career to date. The attacker’s next career move is not yet known, however, a move away from the English game seems likely after a frustrating period playing in the Barclays Women’s Super League. Iwabuchi needs to get back to her best after missing out on selection for Japan for this summer’s FIFA Women’s World Cup.
