According to L’Équipe, many of the Premier League’s top sides are exploring a move for Real Madrid full-back Ferland Mendy (28) this summer.

The Frenchman is nearing the end of his current deal at the Bernabeu. At the end of the season, the France international will have just one year remaining on his contract and within that context, he is garnering significant interest from some of England’s top sides.

L’Équipe report that Arsenal and Liverpool have made contact with Mendy’s entourage on the topic of a summer move. However, official negotiations are yet to begin. Liverpool in particular are hesitant whilst the identity of their next manager remains unknown.

Mendy rules out Newcastle move

Manchester City are also considering a move for the Frenchman, whilst Manchester United and Newcastle United, whose interest is more long-standing, are pushing for a move. Both clubs are willing to talk figures, however, Mendy is not keen on a move to Newcastle, with the Magpies set to miss out on UEFA Champions League qualification for next year. Napoli, who are unable to meet Mendy’s wage demands, have also been ruled out of the running.

A move to Bayern Munich, in the event of Alphonso Davies moving to the Bernabeu, cannot be ruled out, however, convinced by Mendy’s recent performances, Los Blancos are considering offering the defender an extension. Mendy will certainly have plenty of options come the summer.
