Arsenal defender Leah Williamson has finally signed a new contract. The defender’s previous deal was set to expire this summer.

The 24-year-old has been with the club for 15 years but had recently been linked with a move to Lyon.

“I’ve signed because I’ve always said that this is my club,” said the England international, who will represent Great Britain at the Olympics this summer.

“I say it’s a fairytale that I’m still here, I have won trophies and we’ve continued to compete for trophies, that’s really important to me and I think that I owe the club as well for everything they’ve given to me, and it’s time for me to give back to them.”
