Marca report that Altetico Madrid have made a bid for Nahuel Molina of Udinese, but they aren’t the only ones. Juventus and Arsenal have also submitted significant offers for the Argentina international.
Udinese aren’t keen to let Molina go on the cheap, as he has a contract until 2026 and ended the season with eight goals and five assists in 37 appearances.
Molina is ostensibly a right-back, though he’s played as a right-wing-back this season, which is why his goals and assists tallies are so high.
With Takehiro Tomiyasu’s injury problems in his first season at Arsenal, it seems the Gunners are on the lookout for a strong alternative when the Japan international is unavailable.
Perhaps Mikel Arteta might also be looking for a right-back who can provide a bit more of a threat in the final third, as Tomiyasu is more defensively-focused.
If Arsenal are going to sign Molina, their best bet may be to include Pablo Mari in a potential deal.
Mari joined Udinese on loan in the January transfer window, and he helped them steer clear of any threat of relegation as they moved up the table from 15th to 12th after his arrival.
The centre-back started 15 games in that time, only missing two matches in the four months following his debut.
Previous reports claim Udinese are asking for €25-30m for Molina, but they may consider dropping the price in return for Mari’s permanent arrival in Italy.
Mari has already confirmed he’d like to stay with Udinese, and reports suggest they want to keep him.
