Arsenal target Yeremy Pino is a ‘different name’ to the usual suspects on Mikel Arteta’s wish list, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The Gunners appear to be keen on adding another attacking option out wide before the transfer window shuts on September 1 and have reportedly turned their attention to the talented 19-year-old.

Spanish outlet AS have claimed that Arsenal have launched a €40 million (£33.8m) for Pino as they look to prise him away from Villarreal this summer.

The Spain international is believed to have an €80m (£67.5m) release clause written into his contract, but the Yellow Submarines’ financial problems mean they would be willing to accept a significantly lower fee.

It’s stated that the deciding factor over whether the move takes place or not is down to if Pino wants to make the switch to north London and leave the Estadio de la Cerámica behind.

Arsenal were unsuccessful in their attempts to sign Raphinha from Leeds United earlier in the window, while PSV Eindhoven’s Cody Gakpo is also said to be on their radar as Arteta looks to bring in an additional winger.

What has Jones said about Pino?

Arteta currently has the likes of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Nicolas Pepe and Reiss Nelson to call upon on the flanks, yet Jones believes Arsenal’s pursuit of Pino indicates another option is desired.

In an interview with GiveMeSport, he said: “Pino, at least, is a different name that’s come forward now.

“And it’s interesting that they are still being linked with players of this type, and it again gives you reason to believe that they will add in that position.”

Would Pino be a good signing?

Pino enjoyed a breakout campaign with Villarreal last term, registering seven goals and four assists in 40 appearances, helping Unai Emery’s side reach the Champions League semi-finals.

The highlight of the teenager’s campaign was undoubtedly his four strikes in a 5-1 victory over Espanyol, though, leading to Fabrizio Romano labelling him a “special talent”.

And it certainly seems as like Pino, who is comfortable playing on either flank, has a big future ahead of him whether that’s with Villarreal or another side.

Arsenal, therefore, will surely be hopeful of pulling off a cut-price deal for the versatile forward, securing some extra firepower for Arteta’s forward line.
