Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic would be a better fit than Cristiano Ronaldo for Arsenal, says journalist Dean Jones.
The Gunners could be forced to enter the transfer market for a new forward after Gabriel Jesus’ injury, and Jones thinks Vlahovic would suit Mikel Arteta’s side, though he doubts a deal will happen next month.
Back in September, Calciomercatoweb claimed that several clubs, including Arsenal, were interested in Vlahovic.
It will now be interesting to see if the north London outfit move for the 22-year-old or another striker following Jesus’ knee injury.
The Brazilian recently underwent knee surgery, and Arteta is unsure how long he will be out for.
“No. Obviously we know that he needed some intervention in the knee, and we will have to take [it] day-by-day, week-by-week and see where it takes us,” the Spaniard was quoted as saying by Sky Sports when asked if there is a return date for Jesus.
If Arsenal do plan to sign a new forward in January, Ronaldo is obviously available following his Manchester United exit. Jones, though, thinks Vlahovic would be a better fit at the Emirates.
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT about the two forwards, the transfer reporter said: “Vlahovic, in terms of profile, he’s a much better fit. I just think it’s the wrong time to be able to get him. Juve are not going to be open to losing him in January. I don’t see either of them joining.”
Vlahovic was able to score for Serbia at the World Cup, but he may be a little bit disappointed with how things went in Qatar.
Serbia were knocked out of the group stage, while the Juventus star was only able to make one start in the tournament, as per Transfermarkt. In his nation’s second game, the 3-3 draw against Cameroon, he did not even make an appearance.

Vlahovic’s lack of minutes was due to fitness issues. Had he been on the pitch more often for Dragan Stojkovic’s side, perhaps things could have ended differently for them.
The former Fiorentina man is an elite centre-forward after all, joining Juventus for around £66m at the start of the year, according to BBC Sport. As shown on WhoScored, since the start of last season, he has scored 30 league goals.
Ultimately, then, Vlahovic is the kind of goalscorer Arteta could probably do with right now. Getting him out of Juventus in January, though, is unlikely to be an easy task.
