Oleksandr Zinchenko was onside for Arsenal’s late winning goal against Manchester United.

The Gunners beat United 3-2 thanks to Eddie Nketiah’s 90th minute winner.

The winner was checked by VAR for potential offsides on both Zinchenko and Nketiah.

Leandro Trossard found Zinchenko, who looked very close to being offside.

His cross eventually found its way to Nketiah, who flicked the ball past David de Gea.

The striker was quite clearly being played onside but was Zinchenko offside?

TV replays didn’t really show the lines drawn and it wasn’t clear-cut with the angles of the camera.

You know who, Richard Keys, questioned the decision by tweeting: “Did anyone check to see if Zinchenko was offside?”

He and Andy Gray then spoke on beIN Sports, saying:

“With the technology, it should be checked! They obviously didn’t, because they spent most of the time checking Eddie Nketiah!”

However, after the match, images have now emerged with the official Premier League VAR lines drawn.

And it clearly shows that Zinchenko was being played onside by Raphael Varane, who had dropped deep in United’s penalty area.

It turns out TV coverage didn’t show Zinchenko was onside because it had already checked that when Sky switched over to VAR feed.

Evidence right there.

Zinchenko: Today was unbelievable

After the match, Zinchenko explained how he felt when the goal was awarded.

“I love this winning, you know? The winning feeling in the last minute, the last second. It’s something you cannot describe,” the former Man City man said.

“Today was unbelievable. I need to watch it again before I go to bed because these are the magic moments.

“Some guys told me that it was so tight but on the pitch you don’t see it clearly. I just wanted to enjoy that moment.

“Afterwards when the referee was checking with VAR, the stadium didn’t breathe for 10 seconds. Then when the goal was given, the reaction was top.”

Arsenal are now five points clear

Nketiah’s winner saw Arsenal move five points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table with a game in hand.

City beat Wolves 3-0 earlier on Sunday with Erling Haaland scoring a hat-trick. It moved them within two points of Arsenal.

The pressure was really on Mikel Arteta’s side to earn three points against Man Utd to maintain their cushion.

And in an absolutely enthralling game at the Emirates, they did just that.

As for Man Utd, they’re now 11 points adrift of Arsenal having played a game more.

They may have been dreaming of the Premier League after beating Manchester City last week but a draw against Crystal Palace on Wednesday followed by this loss means it now looks incredibly unlikely.
