Arsenal enjoyed one of their finest days under Mikel Arteta so far after crushing rivals Tottenham 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Emile Smith Rowe put the hosts 1-0 up in the 12th minute before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang doubled the lead midway through the half.

Arsenal went into the half-time break 3-0 up thanks to Bukayo Saka’s fine finish, while Son Heung-min netted a consolation goal in the 79th minute.

The home crowd could barely believe what they were seeing during the opening 45.

Arsenal were rock bottom of the Premier League table at the last international break after losing their opening three league fixtures of the 2021-22 campaign.

But three consecutive wins (over Norwich City, Burnley and now Spurs) have seen Arteta’s side climb back into the top half of the table.

The result piles pressure onto the shoulders of Tottenham manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

The former Wolves head coach, who replaced Jose Mourinho as Tottenham’s permanent manager in the summer, has now lost three league fixtures in a row following an excellent start to his tenure in August.

Ian Wright was buzzing during Arsenal 3-1 Tottenham

One man who thoroughly enjoyed Sunday’s performance was Arsenal legend Ian Wright.

The 57-year-old pundit was consoled by his son, Shaun Wright-Phillips, during Arsenal’s 5-0 defeat to Manchester City less than one month ago.

But he was absolutely buzzing with Arsenal’s first-half performance this weekend and understandably so.

Wright was providing analysis on the game alongside Tottenham hero Glenn Hoddle, who had to sit and watch as the former striker went ballistic in the seat opposite him.

Both of their reactions as the goals flew in are priceless - and you can watch the funny clip here:

It’s always great to see Wrighty with a beaming smile on his face.

This is a huge result for Arteta, who has now alleviated the pressure on his shoulders following a torrid start to the season.
