Konstantinos Mavropanos has sent a message to Arsenal after confirming his permanent transfer to VfB Stuttgart.

VfB Stuttgart officially confirmed the transfer of Konstantinos Mavropanos this week, joining permanently following the conclusion of his loan spell.

Mavropanos has since taken to Twitter to say his farewells to Arsenal.

“Arsenal was the first milestone in my career,” Mavropanos began. “I learned a lot, I improved as a player and as a person. I made friends and experienced great support.

“Thanks to everyone at the club and I wish the team success always.”

Earlier this week, The Athletic’s David Ornstein reported that VfB Stuttgart paid an initial loan fee of £500,000 for Konstantinos Mavropanos.

They will now pay £3m upfront plus £1.5m in bonuses after making his deal permanent on Thursday.

In total, that will bring the deal to £5m, and Arsenal will also have a sell-on clause in Mavropanos’ contract, believed to be around 10%.

Fabrizio Romano claims that Mavropanos is set to discuss his future with Stuttgart soon, and reports suggest he could be in line for another transfer – with interest from West Ham United.

That 10% sell-on clause could therefore come into effect sooner than expected.

Ornstein repeated a claim from Football.London earlier this year that Stuttgart were planning to sign Mavropanos this summer whether they got relegated or not.

But after they avoided relegation with pretty much the last kick of the season at the weekend, the decision was taken out of their hands. They had an obligation to complete the transfer as long as they stayed up.
