The Premier League confirmed on Friday morning that Arsenal’s Amario Cozier-Duberry has won the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award for April, the first time this season that a young Gunner has earned the accolade.
Cozier-Duberry played four times in April, providing a goal and assist in a draw with Stoke, scoring in a draw with Blackburn Rovers, and scoring twice in a win over Liverpool.
Without the Arsenal u21 winger’s goals and assists, the team would have lost two of those fixtures and drawn another.

The full shortlist of nominees for the April award was as follows:
None of the other seven nominees provided more goal contributions than Cozier-Duberry, though Lankshear and Richards both matched the Arsenal man on five.
The Premier League Football Development Panel made the final decision to pick Cozier-Duberry ahead of the other nominees.

Speculation around Cozier-Duberry’s future continues, with Newcastle United reportedly making a move and his contract up in the summer.
But Arsenal are still in talks over a new deal, and there’s been no final decision yet.
As he’s 18 years old, there are no restrictions on the length of Cozier-Duberry’s next contract. He’s currently still under the terms of his first professional deal, signed immediately after his 17th birthday.
Over the course of the season, Cozier-Duberry has 13 goals and five assists in 23 games for the Arsenal u21s and u19s.
