This isn’t the news many were expecting on Sunday morning.
According to an exclusive from well-sourced reporter David Ornstein, Arsenal have no intention of sacking Unai Emery and are ‘100 per cent behind him’ despite their poor form.
The Gunners were beaten comfortably by Leicester on Saturday – making it their worst start to a domestic season since 1982/83 – and many believed the Spaniard would be relieved of his duties.
But via The Athletic, Ornstein claims that Arsenal believe Emery is ‘taking them on the right path’ and his position will only be evaluated in the summer.
With 26 Premier League games left to play, the club’s hierarchy feel there is plenty of time to turn their fortunes around and subsequently build a more positive atmosphere.
Rumours also began circling on Saturday night that Head of Football Raul Sanllehí was searching for a new coach, with former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique already sounded out.
The club have vigorously denied this premise, insisting they will not be influenced by ‘outside noise’.
