According to Bild, Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben has finally figured out the mysterious cause of his injury.

The 35-year-old had attempted a trio of comebacks since his thigh injury back in November.

However, it appears that an infection caused by two rotten teeth caused Robben’s body to not recover from injury.

Two weeks ago, Robben vented his frustration to Bild.

“We are trying everything, but at the moment it is not so good.

“Unfortunately, that’s exactly the problem, that you do not know exactly what it is.

“It’s really difficult. It’s very, very frustrating. You know, you try everything, you do everything.

“But at the moment, nothing good comes out. I was twice really close; I was back with the team. But then there were setbacks again.”

Over the weekend, Niko Kovač asked his old friend, Hertha Berlin team doctor, Dr. Thomas Sennewald, to examine the Dutch legend prior to Bayern’s match.

The Bayern boss and Sennewald worked together during their days with the Croatian national team and Eintracht Frankfurt.

A spinal blockage was also found and treated, though it is unclear whether or not it is related to his infected teeth.

Robben will now attempt to return from injury for a fourth time.
