Lionel Messi and his Argentina side fell to a shock defeat in their Qatar World Cup opener, with Saudi Arabia coming away 2-1 winners to really throw the cat amongst the pigeons (Or lions amongst the GOAT) in Group C.
It was, however, the perfect start to the match for one of the tournament favourites, with Messi converting a penalty just 10 minutes into the tie. However, it was a frustrating opening 45 as a bagful of offside goals meant the lead was a dangerous 1-0 at the interval.
Saudi Arabia then flipped the tie on its head in the second half. Saleh Al Shehri levelled the scores just three minutes into the second period before Salem Al Dawsari scored a sumptuous winner just five minutes later.
Obviously, it will take something spectacular to match this result in terms of upsets, with no one giving the Saudi Arabians any chance against a stacked Argentinian side, so to see people laughing about the result on social media is no surprise.
Content creator turned boxer KSI took to Twitter to mock Messi and his team, targeting the famous number 10 in his post, sharing a picture of a dodgy doppelganger.
It was an incredibly frustrating day for Messi and his team, but he did open the scoring, but couldn’t muster up anything else of major note unfortunately for all those cheering on the great man in his final World Cup
The YouTuber turned boxer has recently announced his next fight as he takes to the ring once again in January next year, taking on Dillon Danis after the pair shared beef last week, resulting in KSI announcing the bout at his latest Misfits boxing event over the weekend.
On the Friday prior to the event, Danis punched KSI at the press conference before running away, meaning the announcement was already built-up beforehand, with fans eager to see the pair settle the score properly rather than with a cheap shot.
It’ll be KSI’s first bout since winning two fights in a single night earlier this year, but the MMA fighter will prove to be his toughest test of his career, with a bout against long-term rival Jake Paul surely the ultimate goal for KSI in the near future.
