Argentina head coach Lionel Scaloni insists Inter Milan are among the most attacking-minded teams in Europe despite Simone Inzaghi’s 3-5-2 formation.

During his pre-match interview via FCInterNews, Scaloni compared Peru’s set-up with Inzaghi’s signature tactical approach.

La Albiceleste will meet Peru in their final 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier of 2024 later tonight.

Following a dismal 2-1 defeat at Paraguay last week, Scaloni’s men will be out to strengthen their position at the top of the CONMEBOL table.

Inter superstar Lautaro Martinez fired the Argentines in front in Asuncion.

But the Paraguayans turned the game on its head, inflicting Argentina’s third loss in the current cycle.

Despite that setback, the reigning world champions boast a three-point lead over Colombia and Uruguay.

However, Argentina’s form curve has taken a downward trajectory.

Indeed, they’ve lost twice in their last three qualifying games, barring a 6-0 demolition of Bolivia on home turf.

Another emphatic win is on the cards, considering Peru’s rotten patch in the ongoing qualifying campaign.

The visitors languish five points adrift of the coveted inter-confederation playoff spot.

Peru manager Jorge Fossati is a known advocate of a 3-5-2 formation.

However, it’s done no good to his side.

After a scoreless draw against Chile last weekend, they remain the worst attacking side in the South American group.

Indeed, they’ve only netted three goals in 11 matches.

But Scaloni refuses to underestimate Argentina’s upcoming opposition.

“Coach Fossati has always played with the 5-man line in defense, with a 5-3-2 formation,” he said.

“I don’t know if they will play differently tomorrow, but I don’t think they are a defensive team.

“Inter play with the 5-a-side line and are one of the most offensive teams in European football.

“Peru have interesting players, they could have gotten more points. We will have to be careful.”
