Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte and the Uruguayan national team picked up an impressive 2-0 win over Argentina in Buenos Aires. Nonetheless, the 22-year-old was at the center of a viral moment.

In the first half, Ugarte got into a confrontation with Atletico Madrid midfielder Rodrigo De Paul. Afterward, Ugarte would make an NSFW gesture at the 29-year-old.

Ugarte also said that the matches against Argentina “are always complicated, high intensity, and with the revolutions always at a thousand. However, Uruguay is always prepared for that.”

Furthermore, Ugarte said that he imagined the game could occur as it did, with both sides having confrontations and heated moments when the action paused.

“Argentina is the last world champion,” Ugarte added (h/t ESPN Uruguay). “They have been doing an incredible job. We knew it was going to be complicated, and even more so here in La Bombonera. Always trusting in what is ours, close together, and always believing that we can. We are happy with the work, and now let’s continue.”

Still, even after the game, there was animosity between the two squads. Former PSG star Lionel Messi was asked about the gesture and offered to remain silent rather than say what he truly feels.

Ugarte and Uruguay will look to get six out of six points this FIFA international break. La Celeste will welcome Bolivia to the Estadio Centenario in Montevideo.
