Argentina Star Quiet But France International Gives “One Man Show” In Inter Milan Derby Triumph Vs AC Milan | OneFootball

Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez was quiet in front of goal, but fellow striker Marcus Thuram gave a “one man show” against AC Milan.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.

Martinez and Thuram have certainly formed a formidable partnership in front of goal this season.

The two strikers have just clicked in the Frenchman’s first season at the Nerazzurri. Their distinct characteristics seem to be perfectly complementary, whilst they have an almost telepathic understanding of one another’s movement.

Inter have benefited as a whole from this attacking tandem.

And it is been Martinez and Thuram who have scored a big chunk of Inter’s goals this season.

Martinez in particular has really benefited from his attacking partnership this season. The Inter captain has struck 23 times in Serie A alone, and 26 in all competitions.

But against Milan in both derbies this campaign, Thuram has been the one to get himself on the scoresheet.

Martinez did not score in the first derby of the season in September. And yesterday evening it was the same story.

The 26-year-old did have a couple good chances in the first half. One in particular was from a cutback at virtually point black range, but Martinez did not set himself to slot it away.

Apart from the lack of a goal, it was not Martinez’s most eye-catching performance this season by any means.

The Argentine did provide some good linkup play in the first half as Inter strung together a series of free-flowing counterattacks.

And Martinez did manage to win some important fouls in the closing stages. These bought Inter some time put the pitch as Milan pushed for an equalizer.

But on the whole, Martinez’s holdup play was not at the level Inter required. This played into the hands of the Rossoneri late on.

Thuram, on the other hand, gave a thrilling display of what he is capable of.

The Frenchman was constantly at the heart of Inter’s attack. His dribbling ability and pace made life very difficult for Milan defenders Matteo Gabbia and Fiyako Tomori.

Then, Thuram capped off his display with yet another vital goal for Inter in his debut season.
