Argentina moved past Canada with ease for the second time this Copa America to advance to the final. After the 2-0 victory, the official social media accounts had some fun taking a shot at Drake.
La Albiceleste had a better overall performance the second time around against the Reds despite posting the same result. Heading into the match, Canadians were riding high and dreaming of a massive international upset in its first-ever Copa America appearance. Drake put down a $300,000 bet on the Canadian national team to take down Lionel Messi and company. He joked in the Instagram post that "This could get Messi."
The night unfolded like many predicted and Messi is one game away from his second Copa America trophy and another international achievement after winning the 2022 World Cup. After the final whistle, the Argentinian national team sent a shot back at Drake.
A post captioned, "Not like us, not with us," showed the team celebrating with the first three words printed above the celebration. If you've been living under a rock or aren't up-to-date with arguably the biggest hip-hop battle of all time, the team is alluding to Kendrick Lamar's now-legendary diss track Not Like Us. The font on the photo is even further confirmation since it's the same one Lamar used in the recently released music video. The music video has accumlated over 41 million views since being released five days ago.
A fun, not-so-subtle response back at Drake. Now, La Albiceleste awaits the winner of tonight's semi-final between Uruguay and Colombia. Fans are excited by the potential of Luis Suarez meeting his Inter Miami teammate in the final, though Colombia is one of the in-form teams of the tournament. The semi-final is arguably a final-worthy fixture, though the loser will drop down to play Canada in a third place match.
The Copa America 2024 final takes place July 14 at 8 p.m. ET. The match will be played at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, FL.
The third place match goes down July 13 at 8 p.m. ET at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, NC.
