Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram will be back in the Inter Milan lineup against Torino.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They also report that Marko Arnautovic will be in the squad despite a fitness doubt.
Against Red Star Belgrade this week, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi decided to shake up his attack.
The Nerazzurri coach handed starts to Marko Arnautovic and Mehdi Taremi.
And the Inter coach’s changes worked as intended. He gave regular starters Martinez and Thuram a rest, whilst the team’s attack hardly suffered.
Arnautovic was on the scoresheet with Inter’s second goal in a 4-0 win. And Taremi also scored, netting from the penalty spot after making two assists.
That was a very reassuring sign for Inzaghi. The Inter coach will feel that he can rely on Arnautovic and Taremi as he looks to rotate his squad during a busy season.
But of course, Inter captain Martinez and French international Thuram remain vital players for Inzaghi.
The duo were Inter’s first-choice strike partnership throughout last season.
And this time around, Martinez and Thuram have continued to regularly start matches – even if Inzaghi has been mindful to manage their minutes.
This evening against Torino, the Corriere reports, Martinez and Thuram will be back in the starting eleven.
Both had started last weekend against Udinese in a 3-2 Serie A win.
And Inzaghi will once again completely overhaul his attack compared to the team that started against Red Star on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the Corriere reports, former West Ham United and Bologna striker Arnautovic will be called up.
There were one or two doubts about the Austrian’s fitness. He had a noticeable physical problem shortly before coming off as a substitute against Red Star.
But Arnautovic is ready to play a part off the bench against Torino this evening, reports the Corriere.
