Inter Milan stars Lautaro Martinez and Federico Dimarco have resumed training on Thursday as they prepare to make their return to the field.

The two players had picked up knocks in the aftermath of the Coppa Italia encounter against Bologna a couple of weeks ago.

The duo underwent medical tests that detected muscle strains. This saw the Italy and Argentina internationals miss out on the club’s last two Serie A fixtures.

In their absence, the Nerazzurri registered a win over Lecce at home before settling for a draw against Genoa in the final match of 2023.

But according to Sky Sport Italia journalist Matteo Barzaghi via FcInter1908, Lautaro and Dimarco have now returned to training.

The two players trained alongside their teammates. Therefore, the source expects them to make their return to action this weekend.

Inter will host Hellas Verona on Saturday’s early kickoff. Simone Inzaghi will have his two key stars back at his disposal.

The manager will decide whether to thrust them back to the starting line-up or place them on the bench.

With Dimarco and Martinez both back, Inzaghi will finally have his full squad at his disposal, with the exception of Juan Cuadrado.

The Colombian underwent surgery last month and will be unavailable for a considerable amount of time.

The Nerazzurri will replace the veteran with Tajon Buchanan who should complete his transfer to the Serie A giants today. The Canadian has already landed in Italy this morning to finalize the operation.

However, Barzaghi doesn’t expect the 24-year-old to join the matchday squad that will take on Verona this weekend.

Instead, Buchanan could make his debut next week in the Lombardian Derby against Monza.
