Araya Dennis started for England Under-19s in their 1-1 draw with Serbia in the second group game of the Women’s European Under-19 Championships on Wednesday afternoon.

Following a positive start to their campaign on Sunday, beating the hosts Lithuania 10-0 in the opening game, Araya was named in the starting XI for the first time in the tournament.

The 18-year-old would go on to complete 67 minutes at the AVRI Football Arena in Lithuania before being replaced by Ria Bose. Shortly after, Serbia broke the deadlock as Nina Matejic slotted the ball past Katie Cox.

Although time looked to be running out for the Young Lionesses, John Griffiths’ side managed to grab an equaliser in the first minute of injury time as Mia Enderby converted from the spot.

The result against Serbia means England will just need to avoid defeat to France on Saturday (4pm UK) if they’re to progress to the knockout stages of the tournament.
