Harry Kane is one of the best number nines in world football at present and currently in the midst of an incredible individual campaign, the forward leading the Premier League for both goals and assists in an inconsistent Tottenham team.

Kane has posted quite remarkable numbers since breaking into the Spurs side during the 2014/15 campaign, establishing himself as one of the leading centre-forwards in the division and twice winning the Premier League’s Golden Boot.

We’ve decided to look at Harry Kane’s remarkable goalscoring record for club and country.

2014/15 – 32 goals

Kane had been handed sporadic opportunities under former manager Tim Sherwood before being given his break by Mauricio Pochettino in 2014/15, a flurry of goals in the Europa League – scoring seven goals in six fixtures before November – earning him inclusion in the Premier League side.

After netting against Aston Villa as a substitute he was handed his first start against Stoke, scoring once more in the following fixture at Hull before a superb second half of the season.

Kane finished the season with 21 league goals to finish as runner-up to Sergio Aguero for the Golden Boot, his performances earning him the PFA Young Player of the Year award and a place in the divisional Team of the Year.

He finished the season with 31 goals in all competitions for Spurs, capping a remarkable breakthrough year with a goal against Lithuania on his senior England debut in March 2015.

2015/16 – 32 goals

Remember when Kane was labelled a ‘one-season wonder’?

It seems laughable now given the heights the forward has since reached, but Kane headed into the 2015/16 season with that label upon his shoulders, having burst onto the scene in surprise fashion at Spurs.

He swiftly made a mockery of those claims by scoring 25 league goals for the campaign, firing Spurs to their highest-ever Premier League finish of third and winning the Premier League’s Golden Boot.

Kane added a further three goals in European competition and four goals for England, reaching 32 goals for club and country for the second successive campaign.

2016/17 – 38 goals

After a disappointing European Championship with England, Kane returned to Tottenham and enjoyed the best season of his career to date, scoring 29 league goals as the north London side finished as runners-up.

Kane’s haul saw him become the fifth player – after Alan Shearer, Michael Owen, Thierry Henry and Robin van Persie – to win the Premier League’s Golden Boot in successive seasons, whilst his record of 29 goals in 30 appearances remains the best goal-per-game ratio of any winner at 0.97.

He had trailed the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez as the league’s leading scorer heading into the penultimate round of games, before scoring seven goals in fixtures against Leicester and Hull to become just the fifth player to score consecutive Premier League trebles.

The forward finished the season with 35 goals in all competitions for Spurs to win the PFA Fans’ Player of the Season award and be included in the PFA Team of the Year for a third consecutive season, whilst he was also acknowledged as England’s Player of the Year after scoring three goals for the Three Lions in 2017.

2017/18 – 52 goals

The most prolific season of Kane’s career, the forward netted a staggering 52 goals for club and country throughout the course of the 2017/18 campaign.

Kane reached the 30 goal mark in a Premier League season for the first time, though was pipped to a third consecutive Golden Boot by Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.

Kane also enjoyed an excellent campaign on the Champions League stage as Tottenham reached the last 16 of the competition, scoring seven times in just seven appearances including netting in victories over both Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid.

His 41 goals in all competitions proved his best tally in a season for Spurs, whilst he continued to thrive as England’s leading goal threat with a succession of goals in World Cup qualification.

Having reached the 2018 finals in Russia in comfortable fashion, Kane scored six goals to finish as the tournament’s leading scorer, becoming only the second Englishman to win a World Cup Golden Boot as Gareth Southgate’s side reached the semi-finals.

2018/19 – 27 goals

The only campaign in the past seven seasons that Kane has not reached 30 goals, injuries restricted the impact of the Spurs striker during the 2018/19 season.

Kane began the season impressively and had scored 14 league goals before the turn of the new year, including a run of five in just five league fixtures over the festive period, before suffering an ankle injury against Manchester United that ruled him out for six weeks.

Kane returned and scored a further three times in six appearances before his misfortune struck once more, missing nine matches after sustaining ankle ligament damage in Spurs’ Champions League quarter-final first leg against Manchester City.

Spurs progressed in the competition and Kane returned for the final defeat to Liverpool, but was only half-fit as Mauricio Pochettino’s side were beaten in Madrid.

He finished the season with 24 goals for club and three for country, netting for England in wins over Croatia, Czech Republic and Montenegro.

2019/20 – 34 goals

Injuries again impacted the England captain in 2019/20, though he still reached an impressive total of 34 goals in all competitions for club and country.

Kane’s season saw him become the fastest player in history to reach 20 Champions League goals after netting twice against Olympiakos, reaching the figure in just 24 games, though his record has since been eclipsed by Erling Haaland.

He scored 18 Premier League goals for the season, though missed a significant portion of the campaign after sustaining a serious hamstring injury on New Year’s Day, an issue that was expected to sideline the star for the rest of the campaign until the coronavirus pandemic halted the season in March.

Kane returned for the run-in and finished the season in fine form for the north London side, scoring five goals across the final three Premier League fixtures of the campaign.

Kane also enjoyed the most prolific year of his international career in 2019 with 12 goals in 10 caps, scoring hat-tricks against both Bulgaria and Montenegro in qualification for Euro 2020.

2020/21 – 30 goals*

Kane’s double against Newcastle last weekend took him to 30 goals for the season in 2020/21, the 27-year-old arguably enjoying the best individual campaign of his career.

Kane currently leads the race for the Premier League’s Golden Boot with 19 goals, as he bids to join only Alan Shearer and Thierry Henry as players to have won the accolade on three or more occasions.

He also currently leads the Premier League’s assist charts with 13, showcasing his creative abilities in a deeper role and providing a staggering 30 goal involvements in just 27 league games.

Kane has been similarly prolific in Europe with eight goals in just eight appearances, whilst he ensured England’s World Cup qualification campaign got off to the perfect start last month with goals in wins over Albania and Poland.

His performances this season have placed him amongst the favourites for the Player of the Season accolades and he could become just the second player – after Andy Cole in 1993/94 – to lead the Premier League for goals and assists in the same season outright.

Speculation has linked him with the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and Real Madrid of late and the statistics indicate that any side capable of prising Kane from the capital will be signing one of the elite talents in the game.
