There is a situation brewing up at Chelsea right now and it is no surprise that once again the drama involves Romelu Lukaku.

The situation is all rather unclear, and reports came out yesterday from Caught Offside that Lukaku had dropped his agent and wanted to return to Inter Milan this summer.

This obviously fuelled rumours and started tongues wagging once again. Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has been speaking about it via the same article with Caught Offside, and he admits that Lukaku is seeking clarification on his future.

“Romelu Lukaku has been evaluating his situation for weeks because his intention is to clarify as soon as possible what to do with Chelsea next season. Romelu would like maximum clarity after such a complicated year,” Romano explained.

So if Lukaku DOES leave the club, who will come in and replace him?

Romano says that whilst Chelsea are prioritising defenders this summer, there is a striker who is appreciated at the club and could become a target this summer, RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku.

But a deal for him would be far from easy, with his club adamant to keep him this summer.

“Christopher Nkunku is one of the many appreciated players within the club, but RB Leipzig want to keep him at all costs and have offered him a new contract.”
