Thomas Tuchel admits it won’t be easy to complete his contract term at Chelsea

According to Football.London, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has revealed that handling the Chelsea job until 2024 won’t be easy.

Thomas Tuchel signed a 5-year contract with Chelsea last year. In only one year at the helm, the German manager has turned around the team’s fortunes taking and leading them to the UEFA Champions League title. Players have done better under the German’s tutelage and both performances and attitude have picked up since.

Even though we are still competing for all the major titles in this campaign, there should be no complaint regarding the management of the former Dortmund tactician However, Chelsea’s situation has taken a U-turn in the last two months due to injury and Covid related reasons. We have fallen from the top spot of the Premier League and are currently trailing defending champions Manchester City by 13 points.

In a recent interview, when asked about his long term stay at the club, Thomas Tuchel revealed that even though he is committed to serving the remaining years of his contract term at Chelsea, it wouldn’t be an easy task to retain the job.

“I think I have a contract until 2024, so let’s stay with this and let’s stay as long as the contract says. History tells us it is not that easy, but I feel confident I can make it. I do not want to be anywhere else.”

Thomas Tuchel has a contract with Chelsea until 2024.

Before the arrival of the German, Chelsea legend Frank Lampard was our manager. Despite having the transfer ban for two seasons, the Englishman did an incredible job. It is fair to say that he laid the foundations for Tuchel to build upon.

Tuchel’s measured response is understandable given the attrition rate among Chelsea managers. The likes of Antonio Conte, Jose Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti and many other managers never saw out their contracts as they were unable to keep up with the standards demanded of bat Stamford Bridge.

Thomas Tuchel has done impressive work despite having setbacks. We are in the final of the Carabao Cup, the 4th round in the FA Cup, and showed dominance in the Champions League group phase. So, it would be criminal to undervalue the work of the manager. However, he will be on thin ice every season he fails to win a trophy.
