“Anything can happen” – Enzo Maresca opens exit door for two first teamers this month

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has opened the door for two firs team players to leave the club this month in a confusing response to one question.

He has been speaking to the media ahead of Chelsea’s game against Wolves in the Premier League tonight. As what always happens with these press conferences for dramatisation purposes and to keep the media happy, parts of the press conference are embargoed for certain times to come out, and the latest set of quotes came out last night.

As we are in a transfer window right now, there are plenty of rumours going on, and the press wanted to ask Maresca about to players who have links with moving this month, defender Axel Disaasi, who looks most likely to leave soon, and Tosin Adarabioyo, who is perhaps less likely but also still has links with a move away this month too.

Maresca gives conflicting answer

As reported by Kieran Gill of The Daily Mail, Maresca said on whether Tosin Adarabioyo or Axel Disasi will be allowed to leave Chelsea this month amid interest: “At the moment, they are both with us. The intention is not to allow them to go. But we are in January and anything can happen.”

So he’s basically fully opened them up for departing this month with the last bit of this answer, even if the intention is to allegedly keep them. It’s pretty obvious that if the right offer comes in for either or both players, then they will be departing the club this month and really, with Tosin at least, who only signed in the summer, that’s just embarrassing on the club front – where is the sustainable squad planning there then? Non-existent.
