Antwerp sign former Leeds and Everton target Senne Lammens from Club Brugge on a free | OneFootball

Antwerp have announced the signing of 20-year-old goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Club Brugge on a free transfer. The shot stopper has signed a four year deal with the club. Lammens has been capped at U21 level by the Belgian national team. Both Leeds United and Everton were reportedly interested in Lammens during the January transfer window.

Most of Lammens appearances at Club Brugge came for their second team, Club NXT, who played in the second tier of Belgian football. He did make four first team appearances for the club, keeping one clean sheet and conceding five goals. The goalkeeper is not the only youngster to depart Club Brugge this week, with Westerlo signing 18-year-old striker Irsan Muric on a three year deal.

With Jean Butez the undisputed number one at Antwerp, the signing of Lammens could signal the departure of Ortwin De Wolf. The 26-year-old former Eupen and Lokeren goalkeeper may now be considered third choice at the club. He was close to a move to Zulte Waregem in January, but it never materialised. Teams searching for a competent goalkeeper in the Pro League will certainly be interested in De Wolf.
