Despite leading the league since the third week of last season, Ajax were denied the title when the season was cancelled due to coronavirus, with Erik ten Hag’s side level on points with AZ.

And they set about their assault on the title again with a narrow victory thanks to a first half strike from Antony on his debut.

In further good news for the Amsterdam outfit, Daley Blind also featured after his recent heart scare and showed no ill effects.
