Antony is set to leave Manchester United this week with a loan move to Real Betis expected imminently.
The Brazilian was introduced as a substitute during Manchester United’s defeat to Brighton in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Sunday. However, it is expected to be his final involvement for the club as Betis near a deal to sign the winger.
Antony has struggled to make an impact since his £82m arrival from Ajax in 2022. A high-profile signing for former manager Erik ten Hag, he previously worked under the Dutchman at Ajax. The 24-year-old has failed to replicate the form he showed in the Eredivisie and has scored just five league goals in two-and-a-half seasons in the Premier League. He has not started a Premier League game this season and new head coach Ruben Amorim has deemed Antony surplus to requirements.
Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Real Betis are now nearing a deal to bring the winger to La Liga. A ‘verbal agreement’ between the sides is almost done and the loan move is expected to be finalised in the coming days.
Real Betis are currently seventh in La Liga and pushing for European qualification under former Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini.
