While team-mate Sébastien Haller made headlines during Ajax’s latest Champions League victory, Antony was another standout player.
Speaking after Ajax’s 5-1 win over Sporting, the 21-year-old admitted he felt his performance was one of his best in Ajax colours.
‘There have been more great matches, but this was certainly one of them,” he said.
“Being able to help my teammates is very important, especially in the Champions League.
“It was difficult to fall asleep … I was happy with the result and the game. Although it can always be better.”
Antony finished the match with two assists, setting up goals for Haller to make history.
“My assists, Haller could tap them in nicely. I’m very happy for him.
“We also have to help him score. With his qualities he has scored four goals from four chances.”
Contracted until 2025, the Brazilian went on to say he is looking forward to continuing to be an impact player for the club.
“I love the club. I have been very well received here and I am happy that I have been able to wear this shirt for a year.
“I want to continue and achieve great things here.”
