The two nations came face-to-face in friendly encounter on Friday evening and the Selecao were simply too good for their opponent.
Brazil came away from the fixture staged at the Stade Oceane with a comfortable 3-0 victory.
An early goal from Paris Saint-Germain‘s Marquinhos and a brace by Tottenham Hotspur‘s Richarlison continued the South American side’s red-hot run of form.
There’s a reason why Brazil are the favourites for the 2022 World Cup out in Qatar, with their attacking depth truly something to behold.
Richarlison, Neymar, Raphinha and Vinicius Junior all started the match, while Antony, Rodrygo Goes and Matheus Cunha were all brought on from the bench by manager Tite.
That quality and depth is just absurd, isn’t it? Especially when you remember that in-form Arsenal duo Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli aren’t even part of the current squad.
It feels weird that one, two or perhaps even three of the players mentioned above will not be on the plane to Qatar later this year.
Antony is a player who is fighting for his spot in Brazil’s star-studded World Cup squad and he certainly tried his best to boost his chances of getting the nod in the win over Ghana.
The winger – who Manchester United signed from Ajax for £85 million in the summer – chose to bring ‘Joga Bonito’ to life at one point and was so, so close to completing an outrageous display of skill.
With Brazil 3-0 up and cruising, Antony opted to turn on the style with some fancy footwork, pulling off two nutmegs in a matter of seconds.
Sadly, the 22-year-old ended up losing the ball in the 2v1 battle, but he still gets an A* for effort…
It was so nearly footballing perfection from Antony. You wouldn’t want to be a full-back coming up against the United flyer, would you?
Antony currently has 10 caps to his name for Brazil’s national team and he scored on his full debut against Venezuela in October of last year.
The Sao Paolo youth graduate rippled the back of the net in stoppage-time to secure a 3-1 victory for Brazil in the 2022 World Cup qualifier.
Antony will have another chance to impress Tite in Brazil’s next friendly match against Tunisia next Tuesday evening.
