Chelsea defender Antonio Rüdiger was nearly fuming over his team’s performance in the Premier League against Leicester City on Saturday.

The Blues fell 1-0 at Stamford Bridge at the hands of Leicester and the 25-year-old let his frustrations out after the match.

In this first loss at home this season, Maurizio Sarri’s team failed to react after Jamie Vardy finished for the visitors in the 51st minute.

Eden Hazard hit the crossbar and Marcos Alonso hit a shot off of the goalpost in the closing minutes of the contest but Chelsea were far off the pace.

With this result after Liverpool won on Friday, Chelsea are now 11 points back from the league leaders. With Arsenal’s victory, the Gunners drew level on points with Chelsea though Sarri’s team hold fourth place through goal differential.

Chelsea could muster no meaningful reply after Vardy put Leicester ahead, and Rüdiger did not mince his words after they dropped their third Premier League game in their last six.

“It’s a disaster. We don’t talk about the title any more,” he said. “If we can’t win these games, we can’t compete.”

Near the half-way point of the season, the German defender spoke about shifting the team’s focus on qualifying for next year’s Champions League.

“We only talk now about top four. Maybe it’s a lack of mentality. Stupid.”
