Antonio Rudiger has made another superb philanthropic gesture, handing out pizza to 13 hospitals in his native Germany.
According to Goal.com, 420 total staff fighting Covid 19 were fed by the Chelsea central defender in response to rising infection rates.
The Germany defender hasn’t been in the first team of late, but he’s been a popular figure both with the fans and in the dressing room since arriving.
His outgoing personality has always been matched by a great generosity, and this is just another example of that. The 27 s known for his public support of several important causes.
His statement made clear exactly why he was making the donation:
“The people who work there do an incredible job. For me, they are all men and women of honour!
“With this action I would like to say thank you above all, thank you to the many hospital employees who put themselves and their health on the back burner to help other people.
“For me, it was all about the gesture. You can’t thank them often enough. However, you shouldn’t just thank the staff this year, but every year – and not just during a global pandemic.”
Antonio, we salute you. Keep doing what you’re doing. You’re a great example to everyone of how to act when you’re in a position of power.
Let’s hope your help isn’t needed quite as intensively next year. Perhaps he will influence others, in the world of football or not, to follow his example and do something special.
