Alexis Vega, Uriel Antuna, Jesús Ricardo Angulo, and Fernando Beltrán are in Tokyo representing Mexico’s U-23 squad in this summer’s Olympics.

Meanwhile Gilberto Sepúlveda is with the El Tri senior side at the Concacaf Gold Cup being held in the USA.

Despite the negative impact of these international absences, Rodríguez does not begrudge his team-mates the experience.

‘Toño’ was a member of the Mexico squad that won Gold at the London Games in 2012.

Rodríguez has been on the books at Chivas since graduating from the club’s academy in 2011, although he has had four loan spells in the decade that has passed.
