Antonio Conte expressed his delight at the players’ attitude during the international break.

Twelve senior players jetted off to all parts of the world on international duty after our draw last time out at Everton (7 November). The rest of the squad got down to work with Antonio and his coaches at Hotspur Way. Finally, on Thursday, they were all back together again as preparations began in earnest for our return to action against Leeds United at home in the Premier League on Sunday (4.30pm).

“We’ve tried to exploit this period, to work with the players who we had with us,” explained Antonio ahead of training on Friday. “We worked well. I’m happy. I’m happy with the attitude, the commitment, the character that the players showed me.

“I think we are working well, for sure. We are at the start of our work together and it’s important, step by step, that the players improve. If every single player is going to improve, the team will improve."

Speaking in his press conference, Antonio added: “When you arrive at a new club, you speak to all of the players, then you try to take a moment to have one to one, to know them in every aspect, not only through the football aspect.

“I think it's good. They have to know me, and I have to know them. I have found players with a great will to work and a great will to improve, to try to do something special for this club.”
