West Ham forward Michail Antonio has been discharged from hospital 24 days after a road traffic accident.
Antonio required surgery for a lower limb fracture after the incident near Theydon Bois, Essex, earlier this month.
West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui called the 34-year-old’s survival from the crash a ‘miracle’. Emergency services took 45 minutes to free Antonio from the wreckage of his vehicle.
In positive news, the Jamaica international has now been discharged from hospital and will return home to continue his recovery.
Antonio is unlikely to return to football before the expiry of his West Ham contract in the summer. The Irons will hold talks with the forward to discuss his future in the coming months.
He made 11 league starts for West Ham, scoring once, in the Premier League this season before the accident. Antonio, who will turn 35 years old in March, will have been with the East Londoners for a decade by the time his deal expires in June.
