Antonio Conte and his staff have asked for Oliver Skipp, Matt Doherty and Japhet Tanganga to return to Tottenham's Hotspur Way headquarters ahead of schedule to get a head start on pre-season training.

The trio missed the back end of the 2021/22 campaign with differing injuries, causing Conte a number of selection headaches down what was ultimately a successful stretch of the season.

But all three have made full recoveries and report that the Italian wants them to return early for pre-season training next Monday to ramp up their conditioning.

Skipp's last game for Spurs came at the end of January before being forced onto the sidelines with a pelvic problem. He has since undergone surgery and signed a new long-term contract at the club.

The 21-year-old is greatly admired by Conte, who has insisted on several occasions that he has what it takes to become a leading midfielder.

Doherty suffered a ligament injury in his right knee in the first half of Tottenham's 4-0 win at Aston Villa in April, bringing an end to an excellent run he had in the side.

Tanganga similarly picked up a knee injury and went under the knife in March, and Conte would like to evaluate his performances upon his pre-season return to determine whether the 23-year-old has a future with the club.

While Skipp, Doherty and Tanganga will return on Monday, the rest of Spurs' squad who did not partake in recent internationals will reconvene the week after. Once the remaining cohort return following their holidays, Tottenham will jet off to South Korea to begin their pre-season tour.
