Antonio Conte has marked the end of an era by winning Inter’s first Serie A title since the treble in 2010, a report in the Italian media argued today.

As per Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition, any Inter coach who has followed Jose Mourinho has been automatically compared to the Special One in every aspect.

Mourinho’s coaching methods, man-management skills, media strategy and relationship with supporters has become a burden for any coach in charge of the Nerazzurri since 2010.

However, Conte has managed to overcome those demanding comparisons and created his own history by winning the scudetto in emphatic style.

Conte does not have his own treble to celebrate at Inter and, as the Milan-based paper highlighted, that currently feels like ‘utopia’ given the club’s economic crisis.

However, in the meantime Conte can enjoy the fact that his side has scored more goals than any Inter team since the Grande Inter days in the 1960s.

Inter have scored 160 goals in 73 league games since Conte was appointed as head coach in 2019, giving the Nerazzurri an average of 2.19 goals per game.

Mourinho’s Inter managed an average of 1.91 between 2008 and 2010, meaning Conte is in charge of Inter’s most prolific team in modern history.
