Antonio Conte is set to remain Inter’s head coach for next season, according to a leading transfer expert today.

The Nerazzurri’s boss refused to commit his future to the club last night when asked about his long-term prospects after Inter’s 1-1 draw at Spezia.

However, Gianluca Di Marzio has assured fans there is no real chance that Conte could leave in the summer, not least due to his contractual situation.

“I don’t think there’s much doubt that Conte will stay at Inter,” Di Marzio explained on Sky Sport 24 (via FcInter1908.it).

“He’s about to win the Serie A title and has another year on his contract which is very lucrative.

“I really don’t think there’s a possibility that Antonio leaves Inter, although of course he will want to know what the club’s ideas are for next season.

“Neither him nor Inter’s directors are aware of Suning’s plans at the moment.”

A report in Italy’s media this morning said Inter president Steven Zhang was preparing to return to Milan in the next two weeks, with several issues on his agenda.

Conte’s future is one of the most significant questions to sort upon his arrival, although Beppe Marotta, Piero Ausilio and Dario Baccin are also out of contract as things stand next summer.

“Zhang wants Inter to reach their objective first (winning the Scudetto),” Di Marzio added.

“They’re waiting for him in Italy and when he arrives, he’ll explain what Inter can and can’t do and how much they can invest.

“Inter have had trouble paying their salaries, there’s a difficult economic situation.

“The club wasn’t sold and it’ll have to be Zhang who intervenes.”

Inter are 10 points clear of AC Milan with six games left, making them odds-on favourites to secure the Serie A title.
