Antonio Cassano: “I Respect Inter Coach Simone Inzaghi But His Tactics Vs Juventus Disappointed Me”

Legendary former striker Antonio Cassano believes that Inter coach Simone Inzaghi’s tactics were too defensive in the Nerazzurri’s 1-1 draw with Juventus on Sunday evening.

Speaking on Christian Vieri’s Twitch channel, as reported by FCInter1908, the 39-year-old stated that he would have liked to have seen a more attacking style of play from the former Lazio coach.

The first half at the San Siro was a fairly cagey affair in which the Bianconeri mostly looked to restrict the Nerazzurri, handing Inzaghi’s men much of the initiative for which they managed an early goal.

In the second half, the Bianconeri became more proactive in their style of play as the clocked ticked down on their search for an equalizer, and the Nerazzurri increasingly looked to defend their slender advantage by denying space to the opposition.

Cassano feels that this style by the Nerazzurri was not as attacking as Inzaghi’s teams usually are, and he did not enjoy the change.

“Inzaghi has always made his teams play attacking football,” he said, “with Lazio it was like this, he disappointed me yesterday. My respect for him remains immense, he is a hard worker and a great coach.”
