Antoine Griezmann targeted with sick chants during Atlético’s win over Real Sociedad | OneFootball

Atlético Madrid star Antoine Griezmann was the target of altogether unsavoury chants, during his side’s meeting with Real Sociedad on Saturday.

Griezmann, for his part, made his latest return to former club Sociedad this afternoon, utilised from the off by boss Diego Simeone.

In the buildup to the clash – part of the final round of fixtures in La Liga this season – the Frenchman was the recipient of a warm social media welcome on the part of La Real.

Safe to say, however, that such niceties did not carry over into the stands at Anoeta…

From the opening minute in proceedings on Saturday, Griezmann was jeered and whistled on every occasion he touched the ball.

Things took a particularly sinister turn during the 2nd-half, though.

After the iconic frontman was left grounded following a challenge from Takefusa Kubo, chants of ‘Griezmann, die’ were heard raining down from the stands.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who also note that other sections of the stadium responded to as much with whistles of disapproval.

Nevertheless, Griezmann was no doubt left hurt, particularly when taking into account the presence of his wife and children in San Sebastián.
