Antoine Griezmann & José Giménez – Atlético injury latest before Villarreal | OneFootball

Updates on the wellbeing of two headline members of Diego Simeone’s Atlético Madrid squad have come to the fore online.

The info comes courtesy of Mundo Deportivo, who have provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Spain’s capital.

The positive news comes in the form of confirmation that defensive stalwart José Giménez, after a spell on the sidelines with a fresh thigh problem, has returned to full training alongside the rest of Atlético’s ranks.

The Uruguayan, as a result, is expected to be available to feature from the off next Monday, when the Rojiblancos mark their post-international break return to action in a La Liga meeting with Villarreal.

And joining Giménez in taking to the pitch at La Cerámica should be teammate Antoine Griezmann.

Frontman Griezmann was of course forced into a premature departure from international duty with France last week, still dealing with the lasting effects of an ankle injury suffered against Inter Milan in February.

The 33-year-old is yet to link back up with the rest of Diego Simeone’s squad at Majadahonda Sports City, but, as per MD, ‘it is expected that he can make it to the clash against Villarreal’.
