Anti-Rangers press try to disrupt SG on UEL day

The anti-Rangers press, in our name, have this morning been at it again by claiming Steven Gerrard is interested in taking over at Newcastle, despite the Geordie side being in advanced talks with ex-Roma boss Paulo Fonseca.

A website, who bear a depressing similarity to our name, have compiled an allegation that our manager wants to join Newcastle, and from what we understand that’s absolute poppycock.

They took the story from the Northern Echo, who claim the following:

“He is far from the only candidate currently being considered, however, with Rangers boss Steven Gerrard, Villarreal manager Unai Emery and ex-Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe all known to have been discussed. Gerrard is believed to be interested in the possibility of taking over on Tyneside, having won the Scottish title with Rangers last season, an achievement he is unlikely to be able to surpass at Ibrox.”

And ran with it.

As we discussed before, there is a rise in anti-Rangers websites using our club for traffic, written by ‘journalists’ who are not fans of our club and not writing in our best interests.

We don’t claim to always have the facts and every inch of insider gossip at Ibrox, but we can tell you we’re honest, and we support Rangers.

And seeing headlines in our name which are eagerly trying to prise our manager away on the day we’ve a huge UEL match really is the lowest and gives you some indication these sites are not in our best interests.

We’ll defend our fans and club from moles in our own ranks as much as we will our clear enemies.
