RMC Sport report this afternoon that a banner taking aim at FIFA and former French FA president Noël Le Graët was removed from the away end during France’s win over Ireland on Monday night in Dublin.

The banner read: “Le Graët, FIFA, Mafia“. It was removed by French stewards, although no tensions arose between them and the fans as they confiscated it. The stewards were reportedly more preoccupied with confronting supporters who had entered with pyrotechnics, and used somewhat more strong-armed tactics to catch them, add RMC.

Le Graët resigned last month from his position as FFF president – having been in post since 2011 – in the wake of the findings of a government-mandated audit which accuses him of multiple instances of sexual harassment and inappropriate behaviour towards female colleagues. Its conclusions also lay bare the shortcomings of the organisation in terms of its internal politics and the supposed lack of weight its ethics committee holds. He remains in charge of FIFA’s Paris offices, a position he was appointed to last year.
