Despite his lack of game time at club level, it hasn’t hindered his international prospects and Anthony Ralston has been a regular face in Steve Clarke’s Scotland side these past couple of years, pretty much making the Scotland right back spot his own.
Granted he was handed the opportunity due to a flurry of injuries, but he’s grabbed that chance with both hands, and last night he picked up his 18th cap as the Scots recorded a vital 1-0 victory over Greece in Piraeus last night.

The Scotland defence produced a superb performance on a night they spent the entire second half very much on the back foot, defending their 1-0 advantage. Raldo himself was a stand out as he showed his defensive capabilities as he more than done his bit for the Scottish cause. The Celtic defender brilliantly cleared the best chance created by Greece to save what looked like a certain goal.

Tony Ralston is a very reliable player as he’s shown at Celtic in the past few years, and maybe he doesn’t get the credit he deserves. Last night he proved to the entire nation that he is more than capable of competing at this level.
And last weekend, as we have mentioned a few times on The Celtic Star, Brendan Rodgers failed to substitute Alistair Johnston despite the Canadian being all over the place in the game against theRangers and that decision could have cost us the game as Johnston alongside Carter-Vickers were responsible for the defensive calamity that allowed theRangers to steal all three points.

Ralston should have been brought on.
And a word on Kieran Tierney who returned to play for Scotland last night after being out since that horrible injury he sustained at Euro 2024 in the match against Switzerland. It’s great to see KT back in a Scotland jersey and it will be even better to see him in the Hoops come the summer, probably over in Ireland for the friendly against Cork City.
