Newcastle United are preparing to face Crystal Palace in an away fixture in the Premier League this week. They overpowered Tottenham Hotspur 4-0 in their previous game and hence, will carry a lot of confidence from that result.

The Magpies are sixth in the domestic points table with 50 points after 32 games. They are still 10 points off the Europa League qualification spot. The points gap is almost impossible to fill with only six games remaining in this term.

Defence

Martin Dubravka made some clever saves to keep a clean sheet against Tottenham Hotspur. Without a second thought, he will be the goalkeeper for Newcastle United. Jacob Murphy needs to work a bit on his passing; rest he is set to start as the right-back.

The centre-back duo of Fabian Schar and Emil Krafth dropped a masterclass performance in the last outing. No reason to alter any of the men for this game. No change in the left full-back position as Dan Burn continues to be deployed there.

Midfield

Bruno Guimaraes, Elliot Anderson and Sean Longstaff were top-notch against Spurs. They ran the show and covered a lot of ground. Eddie Howe wouldn’t want to risk dropping anyone from the midfield trio.

Attack

Anthony Gordon was Newcastle United’s best man on the pitch. Not only he created several threats for the opponents, but he also tracked back well to help his side in the defensive section. A similar performance will be expected from him this week.

Harvey Barnes and Alexander Isak are also likely to retain their respective places in the lineup.

The Magpies have a lot of absentees in the form of Matt Targett (Achilles), Nick Pope (shoulder), Miguel Almiron (knee), Callum Wilson (chest), Joelinton (thigh), Lewis Miley (back), Sven Botman (knee) and Jamaal Lascelles (knee). Even Sandro Tonali is suspended for this battle.
