Ansu Fati update: La Liga club willing to offer Barcelona loan with option to buy offer

Barcelona forward Ansu Fati is facing a summer of uncertainty, with the Blaugrana certainly not closing the doors to an exit for their 21-year-old forward. With a high ceiling, but little evidence of how effective he can be at Brighton, and a high salary, he represents a tricky case for the Blaugrana.

According to MD, Sporting Director Deco spoke with him for over an hour last week, explaining that they had faith in him to get back to his best. All the same, he will start from zero and while Deco guaranteed him that he would have a chance to prove himself to Hansi Flick in preseason,  he will have to earn his place in the team.

For his part, he is completely focused on being a success at Barcelona, and has returned to training over a week early to get a headstart on his fitness. It was commented that he would have to work hard with Barcelona’s fitness staff in order to get back to his best physically, with his time at Brighton still marred by injuries – they have designed a bespoke regime for him.

On the flipside, Sport say that Sevilla are trying to persuade both Barcelona and Fati to allow him out of the door on a loan with an option to buy. The Blaugrana are reluctant to let him go to Sevilla, knowing they will not even pay half of his salary, and are holding out for a better offer at the moment. Yet they are also aware that he will need to play to increase his value.

Sevilla, who have recently appointed Garcia Pimienta, have offered to build their attack around him. The pair will have crossed paths at Barcelona’s academy, and the system and style should suit Ansu.

In addition, Sevilla are hoping to bring in his former teammate at Barcelona, Ilaix Moriba. While there has been talk that they could rescind his contract (which runs until 2026), but Sevilla are seeking a season-long loan for the midfielder. He has had spells with Valencia and Getafe on loan recently, and Ilaix is set on joining Garcia Pimienta at Sevilla, with talks advanced on a deal.

Sevilla have been up front about the fact that they will be operating on a budget this summer, and it appears they will be going after players with high upside that have not performed of late. Garcia Pimienta’s wealth of experience at one of the top academies in Spain, and the relationships he developed with players there, look as if they may come in handy.
