Returning Barcelona starlet Ansu Fati is expected to maintain ownership of his iconic jersey number when lining out for the club in pre-season.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have this week provided an insight into the situation.

Wide-man Ansu, for his part, is all set to link back up with his parent club over the weeks ahead.

Fresh off a hugely underwhelming campaign in England with Brighton & Hove Albion, the 21-year-old is expected to be afforded an opportunity to impress by new Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick.

Should Ansu manage as much, he could well be afforded a place back in the first-team setup in Catalunya’s capital for next season.

Not only that, but his prominence would be recognised by way of one of the most iconic squad numbers in Barca’s history.

Ansu, prior to his departure, held the no.10 shirt at the Camp Nou.

And, as per the aforementioned MD, with as much having not been handed out elsewhere in the Blaugrana’s ranks as of yet, the Spanish international is in line to maintain ownership of the jersey previously donned by the likes of Lionel Messi and Diego Maradona through pre-season, and potentially beyond.
