Before Barcelona got ready to host Real Madrid, all the limelight was on Ansu Fati who was ready to receive his Player of the Month award for his sublime performances in September. The 17-year-old posed with the award in front of an empty Camp Nou, but the entire world had already witnessed enough from the Spaniard. He was ready to break more records now.

Barça bowed down to the Los Blancos in the 5th minute of the game as a Karim Benzema through ball set Federico Valverde unmarked into the Barcelona box, who made no mistake with his finish, slotting it into the far corner. It was a lapse of concentration from the Barcelona backline and Sergio Busquets, and Culés thought it was the start of another huge meltdown.

However, when all faith was lost, Lionel Messi rose from the midfield, playing the perfect lobbed through ball to Jordi Alba who found himself in space near the byline. The Spanish fullback looked up once, spotted Ansu Fati in space in the six-yard box, and squared the ball right at his feet. The pass was begging to be finished, and finish Fati did. At the age of 17 years and 359 days, Ansu Fati became the youngest scorer in El Clasico history, held by Vinicius Jr, who scored the opener in the 2-0 loss last year.

Before that, the record belonged to none other than Lionel Messi himself, who celebrated his first hat trick at the age of 19 against Real Madrid by displaying the badge to the camera before proceeding to kiss it. What do you know, Fati repeated the celebration as he tugged the crest up before kissing it.

The game may have ended 3-1 in favour of the Los Blancos but Barça fans can keep faith that the future cannot go too wrong with Ansu Fati at the helm, who will only move upwards from here; onto bigger and better things.
