An insight into the hopes of the powers that be at La Liga giants Barcelona of lowering the price-tag on the head of Everton star Amadou Onana has today been provided.

The name of midfielder Onana has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital for some time now.

This comes amid the widespread understanding that the 22-year-old has been identified as the leading target to reinforce Barcelona’s ranks in the middle of the park with a view to next season.

Onana, for his part, is currently plying his trade in the Premier League, with Everton.

He has enjoyed a fine season to date, controlling proceedings in the Toffees’ engine room on his way to 29 appearances, featuring three goals, and an assist.

The Belgian international boasts a whole host of qualities both in and out of possession, but it is understood to be Onana’s physical capabilities which most intrigue Barca transfer chief Deco, who is eager to add some power and drive to a midfield otherwise largely lacking in as much.

With Everton having continued to point towards a hefty €60 million starting point for talks over their standout performer, however, Barcelona will likely be forced to get creative, if they have any genuine hope of striking a deal.

And an insight into one potential path towards as much has today been forthcoming online.

As per a report from Diario Sport, Deco and his transfer team have drawn up a shortlist of stars who could be included in an exchange operation, to drive Onana’s price down.

Four players, three of whom are currently out on loan away from Catalunya, are listed as potential makeweights, in the form of Clément Lenglet, Sergiño Dest, Ansu Fati and, surprisingly, Fermín López.
